Easytrip RFID - Ultimate Guide: Everything You Need to Know

1. Easytrip RFID Ultimate Guide2

What is Easytrip RFID?

Easytrip RFID is a type of electronic toll collection system in the Philippines. Operated by Easytrip, a subsidiary of MPT Mobility, the innovations arm of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), for vehicles that are traveling NLEX, SCTEX, NLEX Connector, SCTEX, C5 Link, CAVITEX, and CALAX.

Easytrip RFID enables customers to do cashless and contactless toll fee payment transactions, providing a faster and more convenient experience.

What are the government laws and regulations pertaining to the RFID System?

When a greater need for a cashless and contactless payment method on toll booths rose, the government, through the Toll Regulatory Board, mandated the implementation of RFID technology as an electronic toll collection method. Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), the biggest toll road operator and developer in the Philippines, implemented the RFID electronic toll collection system across all MPTC tollways through Easytrip RFID.

What is an RFID sticker?

RFID stickers are electronic stickers or smart labels placed on the inside of a vehicle’s windshield, its license plate, or the headlights. Upon entering a tollgate, RFID scanners will read these stickers to check the account of the user and deduct the specific toll fees. Once done, the tollgate will open, allowing the vehicle to pass seamlessly.

In the Philippines, there are two major types of RFID stickers. One is the Easytrip RFID sticker that is used by vehicles that traverse along expressways that are operated the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the largest toll road developer and operator in the Philippines. The other one is Autosweep RFID stickers for vehicles that pass along expressways that are managed by San Miguel Corporation.

On January 15, 2023, the Toll Regulatory Board announced the interoperability of RFIDs along Philippine tollways, with Easytrip RFID stickers can now pass through Autosweep-only tollgates without having Autosweep RFID stickers. Vehicle owners just need to have their Easytrip RFIDs registered to experience the interoperability of their RFID.

What are the Benefits of Using Easytrip?

Users of the Easytrip RFID sticker can take advantage of its benefits, like:

Payment Convenience: Travelers would not need to bring cash to pay toll fees. All they need is to top up their Easytrip RFID. Real-time balance checking and reloading of Easytrip RFID can be done through the MPT DriveHub app.

Faster Travel: Another convenience of using RFID is the reduced time needed to stay in toll booths as RFID transactions only last seconds, rather than minutes.

Efficient cost tracking: Private travelers as well as businesses would have an easier time tracking their expenses for toll fees just by checking their account through mobile text, the MPT DriveHub app, or Easytrip’s official website. Especially for MPT DriveHub users, MPT DriveHub has a toll calculator that allows them to compute their toll fees across MPTC tollways even prior to their trip. This would also mean that users can easily reload their RFID with the exact amount they need for their trip.

How to get an Easytrip RFID sticker?

Getting your Easytrip RFID has never been easy! All you have to do is bring your vehicle to an RFID installation site, fill out a form, pay for the activation of your sticker (installation is free, the amount you'll be paying will also be credited as your RFID's load), and the staff will place the sticker on your vehicle. Easytrip RFID installation sites can be located on several gas stations along MPTC tollways and in select toll plazas. These sites are situated in different areas making it more accessible for customers living from different places.

To avoid long queues, vehicle owners can register online and schedule an appointment at their desired installation site.

Where to Load & How to Check RFID Balance?

To have a seamless and convenient travel experience, users can reload their RFID through the following channels:

  1. MPT DriveHub app,
  2. online banking
  3. e-wallet (Maya/PayMaya, Gcash)
  4. 7-Eleven stores,

To check their RFID balance, users can do the following:

  1. Install the MPT DriveHub app
  2. Visit the official website of Easytrip (www.easytrip.ph)
  3. Send BAL <space> 12-digit Easytrip account number and send to 09191601553.

Where can I use the Easytrip RFID?

Easytrip RFID is the exclusive electronic toll collection system across MPTC tollways—NLEX, CAVITEX, SCTEX, NLEX Connector, and CALAX. Moreover, starting 2023, Easytrip RFIDs can also be used on Autosweep RFID-only toll booths. Owners just need to have their Easytrip RFID registered (for non-Autosweep RFID owners) to experience the interoperability of their Easytrip RFID.

Traveling, whether for business, work, or pure recreation, has become less strict as we move past the pandemic. But nothing beats a faster, easier, and more convenient way of traveling. Get an Easytrip RFID now to experience smart mobility during your next travel.
